Sternberg edges Mazuti in pro final!

Lars Sternberg showed the way in round 1, not without a fight from BMX-Pro Daniel Mazuti. With round one in the books, it looks like the 2009/2010 Indoor 4x series at Peninsula Indoor in Port Orchard, WA is going to be a barn burner of a series. With entries from WA, OR and Canada, the vibe was amazing as the day got rolling with a Transition Bikes demo. Mike Metzger & factory race team manager Lars Sternberg helped people test out their line of hard tail and short travel bikes. Full story inside,

Washington State Indoor 4X Racer Callout!

Published Nov 6, 2009 at 11:03
2009/2010 Peninsula Indoor 4x season ready to kick off Nov 14!

We’re only one week away from the opening round of the 1st indoor 4x winter series in Washington State and from the buzz it looks to be a good turnout. Before each race, there will be a different bike company doing bike demos for riders to try out their favorite hard tail or short travel bikes. At the first race on November 14th, Transition Bikes will be in the house from 10:30 to 2:30 doing a bike demo with their Bank, Double, & TOP bikes, barbecuing hot dogs and cranking the music. Transition’s Dirt Jumping/Freeride mad man Mike Metzger will be there along with Lars Stenberg to answer any questions about the bikes. If this demo is anything like their recent demo at the Colonnade bike park in Seattle you won’t want to miss it.

WTB FR Laserdisc Wheelset Review

Published Oct 24, 2009 at 0:25
Surviving A DH Race Season

Falling in love is hard to do. Falling in love with your wheelset is something I ponder as I load my race bike onto the chairlift. I've been fortunate to have my wheels carefully looked over by my trusty mechanic and each time he comments to me how they are holding up. Last year I heard nothing but "Be careful on this 'particular' set, they are abused and egg-shaped" and I replied "Why are they so beat up already? I've only done 4 races?" This year I wanted a reliable, light, durable, laterally strong rim with a width that would get the most out of a tires tread casing. I wanted strong hubs and even stronger spokes and nipples.

I got everything and more outta the WTB FR Laserdisc Wheelset...

2009 Fluidride Cup Final Mega-Post

Published Sep 29, 2009 at 16:15
Another top notch Pacific Northwest gravity season has come to a close, the bragging rights have been doled out. Allride Academy/Santa Cruz wonder boy Mikey Sylvestri and Red Bull/Intense Jill Kinter take the Pro race wins and Yeti's Evan Powell snags Jr Expert. It was not your typical Sunday race day. Yes, we had blue skies, but one element that I never thought would play a factor was the extremely 'high winds'. Mt Hood Ski Bowl isn't really known for its wind, I conjure up thoughts of heavy rains or wet heavy snow. This closing weekend of the 2009 Fluidride Cup was one for the memory books.

Fluidride Cup #5

Published Aug 27, 2009 at 10:56
"Return To The Hill" DH Story and Results

It was dry, fast and really dusty. Intense/Crankbrothers' Pro Bryn Atkinson and Speedy Beaver's Dawn Fidler take the pro classes as Fluidride's/Evil Luciano Worl takes the Junior Expert titles home. Several racers traveled the distance to race the now famous 'Dry Hill' trails located in beautiful Port Angeles WA and nobody left with a grumpy face. Well, maybe Kona's photographer who sustained a wicked torn up knee injury walking down the course was the only one...

Dog Leashes and Collars made from recycled inner tubes!

Cycle Dog is a new Portland, Oregon based company that designs and manufactures dog leashes, collars and accessories. What makes Cycle Dog unique is that their products are made from recycled bike inner tubes. Cycle Dog has relationships with bike retailers, which collect the old tubes for reuse. Cycle Dog also accepts old tubes from individuals and bike teams. These tubes might otherwise go into landfills, but can now be re-purposed into high quality dog leashes, collars, and accessories.
