The 2009 Fluidride Cup Schedule Announced!!
Posted: Feb 11, 2009
The 2009 Fluidride Cup is returning with a 7 event series including Kellog, Idaho's Silver Mountain resort making it a true 3 state NW gravity series. Attendance is expected to shatter last year's records as many new comers can find tracks suitable for all skill levels. You'll ride up with Maxxis' Luke Strobel, Transition's Lars Sternberg and last year's Pro Mens Champion Bart McDaniels but I doubt you'll be going down the course with them.
Will dissolving the 'semi-pro' class change things? You bet! Welcome to another season of gravity racing!

Race# Location Date
FR Cup 1 Port Angeles, WA. April 3rd - 5th

Just like last year, nDub Productions and Petr Kakes of Hurricane Racing will be handling the race timing and course. You have to get your new USA Cycling License and permits to enter. There's been a long list of added sponsors to the ones that supported it last year. I haven't got the finalized listing to show yet. But stay tuned for many more updates here on Pinkbike.
For a review of last years races check out the following videos:
Fluidride Cup #1-
Dual Slalom
Downhill
Fluidride Cup #2
Fluidride Cup #3
Fluidride Cp #4
Fluidride Cup #5
Fluidride #6
For registration and details- go here. (note: As of this writing- it was still 2008 information- don't fear- that page will be updated very soon!)
To get your USA Cycling license and permits, go here.
To closely follow the FR Cup's details and news- the Fluidride Cup website is right here.
I just started the 2009 Fluidride Cup thread right here for discussion. Did I cover it all? Will Luke Strobel beat 40+ year old Bart McDaniels? Will the former 'semi-pro's' make things interesting in the pro class or will they 'sand-bag' the Expert class? Let's chat about racing.

This year the racing should be amazing, especially with the full Hood course back in play. Finally some more fast and rough. So much riding for your money. I'm totally excited.
Completely awesome. ~1 minute of super fast and rough after a small bit of technical steep at the very top, then it meets up with the rest of the course mid-mountain. It's basically as much as you can stay off the brakes and hold on, which makes the bottom half tricky cause your hands and forearms are wasted.
Stay healthy Charlie and you will pedal off the start box down "White Knuckle' or what I like to call- "Mike's Busted Ass Elbow Spot!"
I wish it was on 'Justice'- but no, first easy roller on "White Knuckle" I was pinned- went OTB's and ate serious shit. 9 pins and plate- my arm is still kinda f*cked, so I'm MC'ing this year and racing 40+ Sport for fun. Call me a 'Sandbagger' I don't care.........
sandbagger. lol. i am sooo outta shape anyways, so ill be racing sport 21-28 or w/e it is now, so i cant knock ya. lol. should a good season dude!
they should have the winners of the pro men in the fluidride cup and the mountain states cup race to see who has the faster people. that would be sweet
except if aron gwinn raced there would kinda be no contest... he beat the pros time by like thirty seconds with a really bad crash.
We got Luke Strobel at most events- so if those 2 were in attendance it makes a great race. We don't care if Sam Hill or Gee Atherton shows up.
Cant wait for the season to start! 2008 fluidride cup was an amazing series and im sure with the silver mountain race, it is going to be even better!

I hear we are losing the Slalom @ Hood. Lets start speaking up NOW. Dual Slalom is a BIG part of the racing weekend. "No if, ands, ort buts" We need to have Slalom races @ Hood. SPEAK LOUD PEOPLE

great article, This maybe be the year for me to get back to racing la bicicleta. look out for the flying chalupas
Im makin it out to every one of those races, besides idaho. I love fluidride, so organized and such a good stystem. cant wait for april 3. and i hope they have dual slalom at hood, that was awsome.
I live in Canada and was thinking about trying to make it down for the first race in april. I was just wondering if its possible to get one day insurance for these races? How does this work?
No insurance needed, just a USA Cycling license if you are racing Exert or Pro. Sport class can get one day licenses.
