Post Canyon Clean Up Day Apr 26th!
April 19, 2008Published by northwestdhdadCalling all NW trail stewards and "Do-gooders!" for our annual Post Canyon Clean Up Day!
Please come out and steward a small 4-hour clean up day on April 26th from 9am to Noon. Refreshments provided by local businesses. Bring your bikes for some sweet after work riding and check out all the new features recently built and rip the 2 brand new trails. Here's some riding shots to get you stoked on coming out. Meet at the Post Canyon Drive trailhead (please respect the limited parking) at 9am. Groups will be sent out to areas of concern. This is the new "Extended Play" above 8-Track. Super Fun! If you have any questions- feel free to PM me and I'll gladly assist any out of state riders wanting to join in- Thanks for reading this post. And here a bonus clip of Miles Sullivan testing out the new re-route on "Frankenstein"! Mike Estes aka "PostCanyonLoc" |

I'd love to come; if only I knew where this was.....
In Hood River OR, right on the Columbia River. about an hour or so east of Portland OR. Come across the Canadian Border - Hit I-5 South, keep on rolling for awhile, then hit I-205 into Oregon, Take the 84 east exit towards The Dalles. Take Exit 62 into HR. Discover Bikes will tell you how to get up to Post, pick up a map there too. They are located at the end of Oak Street on the South Side.
Now you have to come. Since you know where.

You and Robholio must have replied at the same time. Here's the link to Discover Bicycles if anyone wants to call and chat. Thank you (in advance) to all that participate.
does anybody know if there are trails like these in california.. preferably in southern cali??
Nothing remotely close in SoCal.
Yes ....there is some stuff like this in So cal. , p.m. for info....
I'm in.......Of course!!
Aniyn, Post Canyon is in the western edge of Hood River, Oregon, off of the Interstate 84 East. If you plan to come down, shoot postcanyonloc or myself a PM and we can square you away with detailed directions.

I might be able to make this...I'll let you know later this week.
You can bring the baby! I will most likely have my toddler tow. Do you have a trailer to roll around yet? I got one you can use that day! NEW DADDY! Hope you can make it Mike- but if not- your good intentions are noted- so no sweat.
Thank you- there's more pictures to see it here. Shovelpick is the man responsible for the trails direction and its his name on the paper-work with the county.
that drop looked a little ruff but nice trail boys
You shoulda seen it before the re-route. Fall-line brake drags that were no fun at all- we are fine tuning that section. One thing we have on our side is no one really knows how to get in there- its a secret location. Public Joe won't go near it.
lookin good mike...wish i could make it down there and help out. but i cant even ride4 right now... i crashed playing bike polo and cant even extend my left arm...lol. ill make it out there this summer though. fo sho.
DUDE- I missed this last night. Good thing your right handed. Get well soon!
lol...i might be able to ride by the weekend..nothing's broken, which is lucky...but for 3 days I couldn't even bend my arm and it was purple...no joke. polo is a brutal sport played properly...ie in pouring rain and snow under a lit section of I5 around midnight...haha. I'll make it out to hood sometime soon though. The new trail(s) look sick. nice work
How do you start building something like this? I mean the first step , with the local authorities , do you have to be in a kind of association ? Rise founds for the materials ?
You can contact the GFRA and ask Douglas- he's been instrumental in planning and building. Actually Frankenstein was originally his trail, but Miles Sullivan (Shovelpick) adopted it, and rebuilt it with his blessing. http://www.gfra.org/
im gonna try to come out. with a couple buddies from uo
Hopefully i can make it up there. anyone know when all the damn snow is going to melt.
Im so sick of this weather, snow in april, WTF!
but yeah, Should be able to get up there this weekend

killer trails guys.. have been down a couple times for windsurfing/kiting and was so stoked with the biking.. should be down again once or twice this summer! Thanks for building and maintaining beauty trails.
If I didn't have to work. crap!
...sorry Mike, I'll be fly fishing on the Deschutes all weekend. Let me know if I can make it up sometime for you.
just throwing this out there, but 9am to noon is 3 hours, not 4. lol
props to all that can help out.
Our public schools are obviously an hour short....HAHAHA. Thanks for pointing that out.
Ya know....If anyone wants to work on clean-up until 1:00 PM, I don't think they'll mind...
And then we all go to Portland for the premier of SEASONS!!!!
Damn!! I almost forgot about that. we better get in touch with Hack soon. Drunken heckling will abound, no doubt!!
Shit. I would love to come but my senior prom is the night before
